About the Maker

Meet the maker/owner  behind Erickson Bit and Spur- Amy Erickson

Growing up on my family's ranch I developed a deep love for the western world, ranching and horses that resulted in my pursuit of western style engraving and silversmithing.

I have been engraving and silversmithing since 2013 then added bit and spur making to my skills in 2020. I have studied with and done fellowships with several Master western engravers, gun engravers and bit and spur makers and I am continually expanding my skills.

I was the 2020 Art of the Cowgirl bit making fellowship recipient mentored by John Mincer/Mincer Silversmiths. In 2022 I was awarded the Wyoming Arts Council Folk art Mentorship grant where I studied Bit and Spur making with Ernie Marsh ( who initially taught me engraving)  and in 2024 I was awarded the American Craft Councils Emerging artist grant as part of their Cohort program. I am also a signature member of The Cowgirl Artist of America and I am the 2024-2025 TCAA fellowship recipient.

I live in southwestern Wyoming  where I run my business Erickson Bit and Spur full time, creating traditional western style, engraved jewelry, buckles, saddle silver, bits and spurs. I am a one woman shop. I take great pride in creating each and every piece and truly love what I do. I work primarily with steel and sterling silver. My pieces are hand fabricated and engraved by me and are of heirloom quality.

When I am not in my shop you can find me in the mountains or on the back of a horse (usually both).
